The Italian designer, whose dresses and gowns are favored by starlets as well as the quietly fashion-obsessed, brings some of his signature touches to the affordable collection.

The Macy’s collection launches on Oct. 26 in 225 stores, and includes signature touches on pieces like a sequined jackets and a soutache dress–soutache being a three-dimensional touch as in appliques and braiding.

Priced between $50 and $150, the line also includes skirts, blouses, lightweight jackets, modern-cut pants and graphic t-shirts in fabrics like lace, tweed, brocade, faux fur and point d’esprit tulle.

Valli says he has been influenced by his Roman heritage, the movies of Antonioni and inspired by French fashion through the watercolors of Yves Saint Laurent and the drawings of Gruau. He spent two years as the senior designer for Fendi.
