Beauty craves & faves
- Meet Marie Veronique Nadeau, esthetician and founder/creator of natural, organic skin care company Marie Veronique Organics (based in Berkeley)…
Favorite East Bay spas: Health Medicine Institute in Lafayette and Purevana in Mill Valley.
Favorite East Bay salon: Right now, it’s DIY when it comes to my hair and nails.
Best beauty secret: Sleep on your back.
Favorite way to unwind: Read a good book.
Favorite quote: “If a woman is not beautiful before she’s forty, it’s not her fault. If she’s not beautiful after she’s forty, it is.”
I can’t live without: Sunscreen and nutritive face oils rich in essential fatty acids. You cannot get too much oil. Literally. Well, maybe you can, but you’d be surprised how much the skin can absorb, and how much the skin loves oils.
Favorite trend of the moment: Significant new aging research proving the value of certain botanicals in delaying the aging process. It’s gratifying to see how our research keeps our products ahead of the curve.
Biggest beauty sin: Who, me [wink]? The trick is getting out of the habit of thinking that things are bad for you. If you like it, chances are it’s considered sinful, but mainstream “wisdom” turns out almost always to be incorrect.
Best beauty advice she ever got: “A certain amount of vanity is considered a sign of mental well-being.” (It’s a sign of recovery they look for in a mental asylum is an individual starting to pay attention to his/her appearance).
Best beauty advice she has to give: Stop comparing (almost always unfavorably) yourself to others.
